hot july moons

Six years ago, I disappeared, running to escape the torture I faced at the hands of my father. Then, a year ago, desperation led me back to Camp Agonde, the summer camp that filled my childhood with joy and where I first met the boys who changed my life. Cole Michaels, Brennon Grace and Xavier Rothberg.

At fifteen, they were my everything, but last summer they showed me just how much things had changed. The boys I remembered were long gone, and in their place were three men willing to do anything to get rid of me. A horrible accident started to change that, and slowly their hatred was replaced with passion. Mostly. There were searing kisses and nights that burned their way into my soul.

Until my Father found me and dragged me away all over again, ruining everything. Now, I’m headed back to Agonde a second time, and the longer I’m in those woods, the more I realize nothing is as it seems. I’m Antoinette Barrett, Toni to everyone I care about, and you have no idea what can happen under Hot July Moons.

June Fires Burn is a dark romance.  Please be sure to check your triggers before reading.   A full list is outlined below:

Trigger Warnings for June Fires Burn include:

dub-con, somnophilia, SA (not by any of the MMCs), homophobia/queerphobia, disordered eating, references to child abuse (of all kinds) and child neglect, bullying, references to past CSA, attempted grooming of a minor

JUNE FIRES BURN

I used to live for summers.

From the time I was eight, I was shipped off to sleepaway camp, and from June through August, I was safe. Safe from my father and brother’s twisted desires.

Buried deep in the woods, Camp Agonde became my refuge, the place that always felt like home and where I met my best friends.

Xavier Rothberg. Shy and sensitive, he was the brains behind our adventures and our quiet port through the storms of childhood.

Brennon Grace. The joker, musician, and the one who always helped us charm our way out of trouble.

And Cole Michaels. My very first friend and our defender. The one who stood up for us when we couldn’t stand up for ourselves.

Those boys were my whole world until I was forced to disappear five years ago.

Now, I have no choice but to come back. Only Agonde’s not the safe haven I remember; the boys I left behind have become men who hate me and each other.

I’m Antoinette Hillis, and June fires are about to burn.
